Farmers Markets & Garden Centers at the Delaware Beaches

Where locals go to get inspired, dig in, and bring the season home.

One of the best parts of life at the Delaware beaches? Access to fresh, local goodness — from just-picked produce to native plants, herbs, and flowers. Whether you're browsing weekend markets or spending a slow morning at a greenhouse, here are a few of my favorite spots to soak up the season and support small growers.

Pepper’s Greenhouses | Milton, DE

A plant lover’s paradise tucked away off the beaten path, Pepper’s is where locals go when they want the good stuff. Their greenhouses are overflowing with healthy, happy plants — from classic herbs and veggies to unique perennials and rare tropicals. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to help you find something special.
Local Tip: Come with time to wander — and don’t skip the back greenhouses. It’s a total hidden gem.

Tomato Sunshine | Rehoboth Beach, DE

As cheerful as its name, Tomato Sunshine is a go-to for seasonal flowers, veggies, and lawn & garden essentials. It’s super accessible, with a bright, welcoming vibe and great curb appeal. Whether you’re planting your first herb box or refreshing your porch pots, you’ll find tons of inspiration here.
Local Tip: Their hanging baskets and tomatoes fly off the shelves in spring — go early for the best picks!

Local Farmers Markets

There’s something timeless about strolling a local farmers market — coffee in hand, tote bag slung over your shoulder, chatting with the folks who grew your food. Lucky for us, the Delaware beaches have plenty to choose from:

  • Historic Lewes Farmers Market (Saturday @ George H.P. Smith Park): Organic produce, fresh flowers, local cheese, and baked goods galore.

  • Rehoboth Beach Farmers Market (Tuesday @ Grove Park): A vibrant weekday market with live music, food trucks, and beachy energy.

  • Milton Farmers Market (Friday @ Dogfish Head): Small but mighty — with handmade goods, farm-fresh eggs, and a cozy community vibe.

Local Tip: Bring cash and a cooler — you’ll always leave with more than you planned!

Why It Matters:

Supporting local growers means more than fresh tomatoes — it’s about investing in the community, honoring the land, and celebrating the beauty of each season. Whether you're planning your summer garden or just looking for weekend joy, these spots deliver.
